Red Monkey Play announce sponsorship of the 1st ever UK Kid’s Comedy Festival
Red Monkey Play are delighted to be a key sponsor of the first ever UK Kid’s Comedy Festival which will be held in Leicester as part of the world-renowned Leicester Comedy Festival in February 2019.
We have made the decision to support this event in its inaugural year due to several factors: Laughter, and the creative process of making the comedy, has been proven to make a positive impact on a child’s mental health and well-being, educational attainment and general success at school. As the U.K.’s leading manufacturer and supplier of wooden play equipment to Primary schools, we strongly believe that we should not only develop our children physically but also mentally and this benefit fits strongly with our desire and commitment to support young children and our adults of the future.
Whilst a sponsor of the Festival we are also supporting an initiative aimed specifically at Primary Schools the event, “Loving Laughing” is an annual showcase of the comedic talents of Primary schoolchildren from across Leicester and Leicestershire, working with young people to teach them the basics of joke telling and comedy performance and culminates in the participants taking to the stage at a major Leicester venue to show off what they have learnt, with the winning school crowned the “funniest school in Leicestershire.”
“Loving Laughing” is aimed at Year 6 Pupils in Primary education and each school nominate one class who benefit from their own Comedy workshops at school before competing against other schools. This year it is limited to just 5 schools, however there are exciting plans to grow the Kid’s Comedy Festival in future years.
OFSTED have recently recognised the value of the initiative by formally commenting to the value of the school’s success in the 2018 Loving Laughing Competition.
The Leicester Comedy Festival is the U.K.’s largest Comedy Festival event and attracts over 135,000 people to venues across Leicester and Leicestershire the event contributes over £3 million to the Leicestershire economy and attracts over 36,000 people from outside of Leicester and Leicestershire. They have a great ethos of working with the local community and we felt this was an opportunity that we could not miss and gives us an ideal platform to put something back into our own community.
