The Leicester Mercury Education Awards
We at Red Monkey Play had a day out at the Leicester Mercury Education Awards held at Leicester King Power Stadium during December. The awards recognised schools, teachers and staff in the Leicestershire area for their achievements. We sponsored the “Support Staff of the Year Award” as we felt it is important to recognise the great achievements that have been made in education throughout the year. We also saw some of our work featured on the night as some of our previous partners were nominated, namely Ashmount School in Loughborough.
We were delighted to sponsor the “Support Staff of the Year Award.” The award was presented to an individual who has made a significant contribution to their schools in their support roles. Our Managing Director Simon Winfield presented the award on the evening to the successful recipient Beth Ladkin from Bosworth Academy.
On the night there were 14 awards in total at a star-studded event at the stadium. Simon explains that Red Monkey Play, whilst one of the U.K.’s leading outdoor wooden play equipment companies, are very much focused upon supporting their local schools and school children and do this through many routes. To be a sponsor of a category at the Leicester Mercury Education Awards at the end of a successful year was very much at the “icing on the cake.”
Simon also went on to say that Red Monkey looks forward to continuing to support the local education community through an initiative during 2019 including their continued support of the Leicester Riders Basketball Team and as a key sponsor of the first ever UK Kids Comedy Festival which will start in February.
Other awards on the night included many schools where Red Monkey Play have undertaken work with to improve their outdoor play and learning areas and it was a delight to see that Ashmount School in Loughborough were recognised for their entry in the “Healthy Schools Award,” which included many of the items (Double Health Walker, Assault Net, Fort Challenge, Suspension Bridge, Balance Beams, Spring Wobble Board, Square Tunnel) that have been designed and installed by Red Monkey Play.
We at Red Monkey Play hope we can continue to support in future years at this prestigious awards ceremony for local schools. It is a great way for us to show our solidarity as well as to support schools and education professionals.

A Recent Project – Dunchurch Primary School
Thinking about revamping your outside space? Take a look at one of our recent projects at Dunchurch Primary School. They wanted various learning regions including a physical activity area for their early year’s pupils. Not only did the area need to be open-ended and active, but it had to incorporate multiple stimulating sections including water and sand zones.
