With this in mind, we have recently delivered a programme to promote health and fitness in Leicestershire Primary Schools with the help of Leicester Riders Basketball Club.
Here at Red Monkey Play we take our social responsibilities seriously and one of the most effective ways in supporting the community is encouraging our young children to be physically and socially active. Through our community work we embed a culture of responsibility and respect of the local area and wider world.
Red Monkey Play, being a proud sponsor and supporter of Leicester Riders Professional basketball team, engaged Riders longest serving player, Harrison Gamble, to deliver an hour of basketball activities to a class of Primary school children; you can see the training in action by clicking on the video.
We held a competition for Leicestershire Primary Schools and the three winners were Fosse Primary School, Leicester, Rendell Primary School, Loughborough and St John Fisher Catholic Voluntary Academy, Leicester. We celebrated the children’s achievements by visiting the schools, and Harrison gave guidance and coaching to the lucky and talented young people. Many of the children had never before played basketball and their enthusiasm, desire and commitment was a delight to see. The schools involved provided us with tremendous feedback and we will be supporting them again in the very near future.
