Catholic Primary School
What was needed?
The outdoor space at Sacred Hearts was long and narrow and a challenge to incorporate a physical development with various learning zones that the Head Teacher sought.
What we did
Given the restrictive outdoor space, Red Monkey managed to achieve a beautiful and engaging free-flowing play zone. A sensory small world for imaginative play, leading onto a stage for role play, including a scene-setting sensory path which encased three grass seats for the audience. Following from that a hobbit house and planting area for the natural and messy play were incorporated within the design. We erected a large traverse wall as part of the free-flowing area. A canopy was added to the area to allow for shelter, with its coloured roof to encourage children’s inspiration.
From the customer
We are delighted with our new outdoor area! It was a real pleasure to work alongside designers who took on board our vision of what we wanted to achieve and turn this into an exciting area for the children to explore and learn in with a quick turn over whilst paying real attention to detail.
The children have had endless opportunities to develop in all areas of learning through experiencing challenging problems to negotiate as well as very open-ended imaginative play opportunities. The area has been beautifully landscaped to enhance to school grounds and is very in keeping with the look we wanted to achieve! We would definitely use RED MONKEY PLAY again!
