What was needed?
The Brief
The headteacher requested Red Monkey to look at their EYFS outside play area. In the brief, a free-flowing area was needed which included tunnels and climbing items that needed to challenging the upper body as well as introducing sensory areas. Red Monkey needed to incorporate the school colours in the design. They stipulated that flooring must be synthetic and maintenance free.
What we did
The Result
Red Monkey designed the EYFS area to maximise physical development by building a rainbow adventure unit, bespoke grass tunnel and log crossing. To bring the sensory element to the design we installed an interactive water wall with a pump system and sandpit to stimulate imagination and encourage creative play. The sandpit was made weatherproof by installing an outdoor canvas shelter over the sand unit.
To incorporate the school colours in various textures Red Monkey installed a synthetic coloured flooring, red, blue and yellow rubber, green play grass, brown bonding mulch and multicoloured perspex. This helped to personalise the design to the school colours.
