Making Every Square Metre Count
At Oxley Park, our goal was to transform an underused outdoor space into a vibrant playground filled with endless possibilities. The client wanted an environment that catered to every child, incorporating imaginative role play, messy play, quiet retreats and active challenges within one cohesive design. Through thoughtful planning and a bespoke approach, we created a versatile outdoor space that encourages creativity, exploration and learning, while making the very best use of every available metre.

The Opportunity
Oxley Park had a clear ambition to transform their dated outdoor space into somewhere children would want to explore, return to and discover something new every time they play.
The vision was to create a rich and varied play environment, where there was no single way to play and every child could find something that sparked their imagination.
The brief called for a thoughtful mix of experiences, from imaginative role play and creative messy play, to physical challenges, sensory discovery and quieter spaces for children to relax and recharge. The opportunity was to think beyond simply filling a playground with equipment and instead create a space that would support the many different ways children play.
The Challenge
The existing outdoor space offered limited opportunities for adventurous and imaginative play. We transformed it into a vibrant, multi-functional playground
that makes the most of the large space, creating opportunities for children to climb, balance, explore and play creatively.
Designed to encourage physical activity, confidence and curiosity, the new space provides a variety of experiences that support different types of play. From active challenges, imaginative adventures to quiet zones and messy areas, every element helps create an outdoor environment where children can explore, discover and develop through play.
