School & Nursery
What was needed?
Dunchurch Primary School wanted various learning regions including a physical activity area for their early years pupils. Not only did the area need to be open-ended and active, but it had to incorporate multiple stimulating sections including water and sand zones.
What we did
Nature was a leading theme regarding the equipment and activities with the outdoor area at Dunchurch. There are various areas of the space which encompass a variety of sensory and learning activities. Red Monkey redesigned an existing water wall to allow more interactive play, which included an engaging bright blue EPDM stream to match. We also included a beach type sand and pebble area, complete with an interactive pulley system.
Further down within the play space was the natural planting area where children can explore nature, watch their plants grow and get their hands messy.
Closer to the center of the area there is more active equipment including a grass mound tunnel, perfect for crawling under or rolling down, and a large challenging clamber stack.
Roleplay and imaginative play are key for any outdoor zone, resulting in us building a stage complete with grass seats and a bespoke sign for Dunchurch together with a small world area and explorers house.
Red Monkey completed this zone including multiple resources for learning, covering sensory, active, artistic and role & imaginative play. It was a pleasure to undertake such a full and exciting project.
From the customer
We absolutely LOVE our new Outdoor Learning Area at Dunchurch Nursery! Working with Red Monkey Play was efficient and enjoyable. We had a clear vision of what we wanted to include and achieve in the garden; an area for risky climbing, messy imaginative play, exploration of the natural world and bags of creativity!
The Red Monkey Team was very supportive, whilst offering great professional advice. He was enthusiastic and flexible to our developing ideas, and always provided solutions, as well as fantastic customer service. Both the children and staff are thrilled with our space!
