Ashmount School invited Red Monkey to develop their play area into a space where the children could enjoy the outdoors while remaining safe and stimulated. Ashmount School is a SEN school with a wide range of physical and mental abilities and the Red Monkey team needed to take all of these into account when coming up with the design.
The area was very overgrown and was not level which caused problems for the children. The school wanted to make it safe and interactive. They wanted a swing that could be wheelchair friendly and they also wanted to include a tunnel.
The team at Red Monkey came up with a design which would include all of the elements above while integrating different features suitable to the school’s needs.
A sensory tunnel was developed specifically for this job to create a sheltered space where the children could experience and explore different colours and textures. The team also included a bespoke sensory path that would allow the children to feel different textures under their feet while walking or while using it with a wheelchair. Two wheelchair friendly hammock swings were included to give the children with mobility problems a place where they could be safe and enjoy the freedom of movement!
The result was a quiet sensory garden for the children and staff to enjoy.
You have transformed an overgrown gardening area into a beautiful sensory space. The equipment and path are extremely good quality and show the creativity of your team. We are thrilled with the service & product.
