We are thrilled to announce that our very own Simon Winfield, Managing Director of Red Monkey Play, won Businessman Of The Year 2020 last month. It was lovely to see all of his efforts in the last year recognised and rewarded throughout Leicester in the Niche Business Awards, alongside some truly fantastic business men and women.
The awards celebrate business greatness in Leicestershire, and were all the more meaningful after the incredibly difficult year that was 2020. Individuals, businesses and charities throughout the region were recognised for their hard-work, sense of community and success in all that they did and continue to do. A total of 14 awards were available, and we are incredibly proud of Simon’s achievement.
The awards took place on Friday 22nd January, having been delayed due to the ongoing pandemic. Although it was on zoom, rather than in person, it didn’t stop everyone from having a great evening, and going all out for the 1920s theme. There was glitz, glamour and a good time all-round, with all proceeds going to Bamboozle, a theatre company focused on entertaining disabled children.

Sense Of Community
Despite the pandemic, and all of the accompanying hardships, Simon succeeded in guiding Red Monkey Play as we became the leading supplier of educational resources, while also delivering outstanding community support by working alongside charities and organisations.
Simon’s efforts within the local community are unmatched, as alongside his Managing Director duties he is Chairman of both the Furnely House Foundation and the Leicester Riders Foundation. During the peak of the pandemic, he played a vital role in preparing and delivering packages for patients in Leicester Hospital, and in offering support to the homeless population.
His approach to giving and supporting is one that inspires us all, and is part of the reason why Red Monkey Play is so heavily involved in community outreach.

As Managing Director, Simon is responsible for directing our company vision and implementing the savvy business strategies which help us deliver high-quality services and products. He is an essential part of the team, and wholly deserving of an award that celebrates his efforts, as he continuously strives for excellence in all aspects of Red Monkey Play.
During the award ceremony, Simon made sure to thank both his wife, and the rest of the team here at Red Monkey Play.
