A Buyer’s Guide To Sensory Play Equipment

Primary school children playing with sand & other sensory items in a wooden sensory play tray

Our sensory play equipment enables your pupils to explore all five of their senses in a safe learning environment. It provides them with the opportunity to learn about and take in their surroundings whilst using their senses to fully appreciate and be present in the moment. During development, younger children use multiple senses at a time, whereas an adult may only use one or two. That is why it is so important to ensure that we provide enriching and stimulating environments that allow children to be curious and to process the experience in its entirety.

The best way for a child to learn and develop is through actively participating in any way that they can. The more senses that are stimulated and used during these experiences, the easier it is to process what is happening around them. Sensory play encourages the exploration of different materials, colours, smells, tastes, and so much more – promoting a love of learning.

Our sensory equipment helps with the processing, organisation and filtering of sensory input, which is essential in your pupils’ development. This will help to facilitate their emotional responses to situations and get to grips with their own bodily functions as a result.

A few other benefits of sensory play equipment include:

  • The development of motor skills and social skills.
  • Stimulation of both imagination and physical development from an early age.
